Saturday 17 May 2025
Andy Watkins invites you to join him, and five fantastic acts, in celebrating 50 years of promoting folk music in Lincolnshire and beyond
None of which would have happened without the voluntary help of others, some of whom will be joining us today, and YOU. You have allowed Andy to indulge in presenting folk music, which is the delight of his life. Some of you have been following Andy for many years to various venues in Lincoln, Faldingworth and Nettleham. Some of you have only recently discovered through Nettlehamlive, that special but low profile musical form, FOLK MUSIC. All of you are very welcome. And now for the programme, which presents some of the Andy's most favourites from different folk genre
THE RYE SISTERS 2.30-3.30pmtheryesisters.com
the popularity of these two is now spreading outside Lincolnshire. A lovely duo enjoyed everywhere, they were chosen as representatives of Blues and Americano. Delightful vocals and tunes.
TIM EDEY 3.45-5.00pm just going onto his website made me smile. An example of one of the best of international virtuoso guitarists that Andy has presented over the years, Tim was invited to please Marianne,
Andy's wife (and a lot of other people) He is simply superlative.
DOORS CLOSE 5.00pm for sound checks and reopen at 6.00pm
ROISIN BAN 6.30-7.30pm
An excellent example of mainstream Celtic music, this trio will get feet tapping and hearts singing, to start off the evening. Chris Dyson, fiddle, Paddy Heffron, accordion and Gordon Tyrrall on guitar and vocals. You can find them on their facebook page, Roisin Ban.

And to follow:
DAMIEN BARBER & MIKE WILSON 7.45-
8.45pm
are Andy's choice for traditional singers. Sometimes; accompanied by Damien's concertina or guitar and sometimes
simply acappella, they represent some of the best of traditional singing.
JEZ LOWE
and the BAD PENNIES 9.00-10.30pm
Worthy headliners for any event, they present songs about life,
sometimes funny and always truthful. Jez is a fabulous
song writer and the Bad Pennies are simply great musicians.
An example of the excellent and enduring nature of folk. Jez represents contemporary folk singer-song writers.
The bar will be open all day (tbc.) Tea, coffee and ice-cream will be available as usual all day.
The main hall will be closed off from 5.00pm-6.00pm, but the bar area and the garden will be available at this time (and at any time) for picnics. In the event of rain, further inside provision will be available.
Please watch this space for further updates, such as a list of available Nettleham eateries. (We do recommend you book in advance for sit-down eateries.)
